Film “Aniołki Charliego” inspirowany jest serialem z przełomu lat 70. i 80. Stworzone przed laty przez Ivana Goffa i Bena Robertsa przygody seksownych absolwentek Akademii Policyjnej (grały je Jaclyn Smith, Farrah Fawcett i Kate Jackson), które podejmują pracę w prywatnej agencji detektywistycznej, doczekały się już wersji kinowej (filmów z 2000 i 2003 roku) oraz serialu (2011). Teraz znowu zagoszczą na dużym ekranie.
Aniołki grają Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott i Ella Balinska. Patrick Stewart gra Johna Bosleya, przewodnika i doradcę aniołków. Postać tę zagrają także Elizabeth Banks (jej kobiecą wersję) i Djimon Hounsou. Luis Gerardo Méndez zagra bohatera o pseudonimie Święty. W filmie pojawi się także Sam Claflin.
Reżyseruje Elizabeth Banks (“Pitch Perfect 2”, “Power Rangers”). Przy filmie pracuje również mąż aktorki, producent Max Handelman. Doug Miro i Carlo Bernard (twórcy “Narcos”) napisali scenariusz.
