Menedżer Leonarda Cohena ujawnił przyczynę śmierci legendarnego barda. Artysta odszedł w wieku 82 lat.
Robert B. Kory, menedżer Kanadyjczyka, poinformował dziennik “New York Times” o przyczynie zgonu jego pracodawcy.
– Leonard Cohen zmarł we śnie po tym, jak przewrócił się w swoim domu w nocy, 7 listopada. Jego śmierć była nagła, niespodziewana, lecz spokojna – powiedział menedżer. Inna gazeta, “New Yorker”, napisała wcześniej, że Cohen zmagał się z rakiem.
Leonard Cohen zmarł niedługo po premierze czternastej płyty, “You Want It Darker”, która ukazała się 21 października 2016 roku.
W niedzielę, 20 listopada 2016 roku, o godzinie 18:00, na Rynku mieszkańcy Krakowa i artyści połączą swoje siły, aby pożegnać wybitnego muzyka i poetę, twórcę utworów “Suzanne”, “Dance Me To The End Of Love”, “I’m Your Man” czy “In My Secret Life”.
Leonard Cohen urodził się 21 września 1934 roku w Westmount, w Quebecu. Był kanadyjskim wokalistą i poetą, członkiem Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame a także Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Największy rozgłos przyniosła mu ballada “Hallelujah”, której interpretacji podejmowało się wielu wykonawców w tym Jeff Buckley, Rufus Wainwright czy Alexandra Burke. We wrześniu 2014 roku ukazał się poprzedni studyjny album Leonarda Cohena, “Popular Problems”.
Pochodzący z krążka numer “Nevermind” posłużył za temat przewodni drugiego sezonu serialu HBO “Detektyw”.
