16 czerwca ukazał się nowy album Portugal. The Man zatytułowany “Woodstock”. Muzycy zdradzili kulisy intensywnej pracy nad wydawnictwem.
Zespół Portugal. The Man spędził trzy lata tworząc płytę, która pierwotnie miała nosić tytuł “Gloomin + Doomin”. Rezultaty nigdy nie zaspokoiły oczekiwań muzyków.
Podczas pobytu w domu, na Alasce, wokalista John Gourley znalazł bilet swojego taty z festiwalu Woodstock z 1969 roku. Poczuł się zainspirowany na nowo.
– Teraz ta płyta jest dużo lepsza. Zdecydowanie bardziej się w niej odnaleźliśmy. Napisaliśmy mnóstwo piosenek. Nie robiliśmy sobie przerw, nie jeździliśmy na wakacje. Przez cały ten czas uczyliśmy się coraz więcej o sobie i o tym, jak pisać lepsze kawałki. Naszym celem było nagrać album, który brzmi jak festiwal muzyczny – mówi basista formacji Zach Carothers.
Wśród gości na płycie znalazła się aktorka, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Cloverfield Lane 10”, “Fargo”, “Szklana pułapka 4.0”), którą można usłyszeć w numerze “Noise Pollution”.
Głównym singlem promującym album “Woodstock” jest “Feel It Still”.

Pochodząca z Alaski grupa Portugal. The Man działa od 2004 roku. W swej muzyce łączy alternatywny rock i psychodeliczny pop. Nie boją się też eksperymentów. Na koncie mają dotąd 7 albumów, z których ostatni to “Evil Friends” z czerwca 2013 roku.
