James Woolley grał na klawiszach w Nine Inch Nails podczas trasy Lollapalooza w 1991 roku oraz podczas pierwszej części tournée Self Destruct w 1994. Pojawił się również w klipach do “Wish” oraz “March of the Pigs”.

Muzyk współpracował też z perkusistą NIN, Chrisem Vrenną i jego kapelą Die Warzau.

Brał ponadto udział w nagraniu płyty Sister Machine Gun “Torture Technique”, a także grał w projekcie Roba Halforda – Two . Miał również swoją grupę VOID.
